Sportswriters recognize MHS duo
The Louisiana Sports Writers Association recently released their All-State teams. In Class 2A, Mamou High School had two diamond workers recognized for their hard work.
On the softball diamond, the Lady Demons got recognition from the LSWA when junior hurler Amber Manuel earnd her way to the team. She received an Honorable Mention on the 2A All-State Team.
In the circle, she went 15-5 and recorded over 90 strikeouts. She posted an earned run average of less than 1.8 and was tabbed the Most Valuable Player in District 4-2A.
Mamou’s senior hurler, Tanner Landreneau was recognized by the LSWA. He also received an Honorable Mention on the 2A All-State Team. Landreneau was a first team all-district pitcher for the Demons. He was crowned the Most Valuable Player for District 4-2A.
On the hill, he was 6-2 and posted an earned run average (ERA) of 1.42. He fanned 63 batters on the year. With the stick, he batted .330 and had an on base percentage of .420. He hit one homer and drove in 20 runs.
