Malcolm Eliud Aucoin

August 2, 1935 - July 2, 2014
MAMOU - Funeral services will be held for Malcolm Eliud Aucoin, 78, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 1 p.m., Friday, July 4. Burial will follow in the St. Ann’s Mausoleum.
A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Mr. Aucoin died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou. During his younger years, he served his country with immense pride and honor as a soldier in the United States Army. He provided for the well being of his family by working for over 30 years as an educator. He influenced countless students over those years working both as a teacher and assistant principal. His students from Marion High School in Lake Charles and Mamou Upper Elementary will always recall fond memories of him. But his greatest source of pride was, without a doubt, his beloved family.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 58 years, Barbara Rougeau Aucoin of Mamou; his precious daughter, Renee Aucoin Deshotels and her husband, Thomas, of Mamou. He was blessed with six grandchildren and was further blessed with 16 great-grandchildren. They were the absolute light of his life, and spending time with them was his greatest joy.
He was preceded in death by two of his daughters, Rachel Aucoin and Camille Aucoin Reed; his parents, Martin and Edia Isreal Aucoin; and one brother, Lionel Aucoin.
Father Alphonse Thainese will officiate.
