VP Super 10’s reach the finals

In Moss Bluff, the Ville Platte Super 10’s have had a wild tournament thus far. From blowout games, to the heat and even wild and unruly fans, the VP youngsters have had to deal with a lot of adversity. However, they overcame it all and made their way into the finals. VP met Moss Bluff National late last night in the championship game. MBN will have to defeat Ville Platte twice to win the championship.
Ville Platte opened up the tournament with a contest against Westlake. The local boys took an 18-2 blowout win over their opponent. Landry Lafleur earned the win on the mound. He struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits.

DeRidder would answer with a run in the inning to make it 8-1, but what ensued from that point was a nightmare. The DeRidder fans behind home plate and along their side of the field became highly unruly. In fact, they were so unruly that some fans were removed from the park. They were not just unruly to the umpires, but to the Ville Platte coaches and players alike.
Despite the overbearing obstacles, the VP team kept their lead and added to it later in the game. Hayden Fontenot singled and scored on a double from Dylan Blevins in the fourth inning. Blevins and Lafleur also scored in the sixth inning for Ville Platte.
The win over DeRidder moved VP into the semi-finals against Vernon Central. Ville Platte won the game 18-0 and moved on to the finals. That game and the finals will be highlighted in Sunday’s sports section.
