Mamou Elite 8’s earn World Series birth
With an overall record of 17-1, the Mamou Eight year-old All-Stars earned a trip to Longview, Texas to compete in the Dixie Youth Pitching Machine World Series event. The regional event has a format similar to the state tournament, in which teams play in pools and then meet in a double elimination bracket at the end of the event. Mamou is in Pool A and will try to earn a shot in the bracket play, which begins this Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
Mamou begins their work Saturday morning, July 26. They will take on the second place team from Mississippi at 8 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., Mamou will tangle with the second place team from Texas. Later that night, Mamou and the champion team from Texas meet at 8 p.m.
After a long day of baseball, Mamou begins action Sunday morning. They take on the first place team from Mississippi at 9 a.m. Their final game of pool play is set for 12:30 p.m, against the host team, Lear Park of Longview.
The bracket play begins Sunday evening and will conclude Monday night. Mamou has lost just one game since beginning Sub-District back in June. The youngsters do a great job with a very impressive defense and timely hitting.
