Super 10’s look to regain crown
The last time Ville Platte won the Super 10’s regional was just two years ago. That group is now playing at the Majors level and looking to win that regional. The VP Super 10’s lost in the semi-finals last season in Sulphur, but the 2014 group has yet to taste defeat. Instead, they have mowed down just about every team they have run into thus far in the All-Star season. VP Head Coach Delaney Fontenot is not taking any team lightly as they head to Metairie to play for the regional title at the Wally Pontiff Baseball Complex in the 2014 Dixie Youth Southern Regional Tournament. A tournament win would send this group back to Alexandria for the best of three series.
Ville Platte will begin battle Friday against the third place team from District Six. The teams had not been placed in the bracket slots at press time. The game will begin at 1 p.m. and will be the game that starts off the tournament. A win from VP means they would move on in the winner’s bracket. They would meet the winner of the District Eight Runner-Up and the District Four Runner-Up. They place right after Ville Platte at 3 p.m.
Ville Platte and the winner of that game (game two) would play Saturday at 5 p.m. in game Seven.
If Ville Platte would lose in their opening game, they would play Saturday at 1 p.m. against the loser of Game two. It is a double elimination event.
Ville Platte will be one of the favorites to win the event, however, there will be some other tough teams there. St. Mary’s (District 3) and the District Six Champions can not be overlooked at any time.
The finals to the double elimination event take place Tuesday, July 22nd. The game is set for 5:30 p.m. with an “if necessary” game set for 7:30 p.m.
