Mamou cracking down on unsightly properties

Mamou is cracking down on abandoned, and often hazardous, structures on properties in the town. About a half dozen structures have been demolished so far. Twelve properties have been identified as abandoned. Owners of those properties are being notified by certified mail, and if the owners do not respond to those notifications, the town tears down the houses and includes the cost of demolishing the structure with the next property tax statement.
