Ammonia leak shuts down Main and LaSalle streets in Ville Platte

Louisiana State Police, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, Ville Platte Police Department and Ville Platte Fire Department were all out in force Thursday night, shortly before 9 p.m. as an ammonia leak was detected. Both Main and LaSalle streets were closed to traffic around what was, unofficially, the source of the leak, the ice plant on Main Street, located just past Ville Platte City Hall. There are currently no further details regarding the leak. This article will be updated as new information becomes available.
