Rape victim recalls attack
Ville Platte police continue the search for the man responsible for the early morning rape of 59-year-old Teresa Poullard in her home in the 400 block of Edward “Knotoe” Thomas Jr. Street.
Speaking to KATC, Poullard said she was awoken by a man with his face covered and brandishing a weapon at approximately 4 a.m. Saturday morning, September 27. Poullard stated she feared for her life and did what the man said, hoping she would live through the ordeal. Police reported that the suspect entered the home through a window.
Poullard told KATC that after the attack there was a knock at her door and the suspect allowed her to answer but threatened her life if she tried anything. At the door was one of Poullard’s neighbors asking to use her phone to report an attempted break-in. It was then that Poullard ran and escaped. The suspect also fled the scene.
The suspect, described by police as a black male, with a slim build, wearing a white shirt and dark jeans, is still being sought by law enforcement. If you have any information regarding the identity of the suspect, please contact the Ville Platte Police Department at (337) 363-1313.
