Mamou Christmas parade scheduled
Mamou’s Cajun Christmas parade, the most unique parade of its kind in all of Acadiana, will be held Sunday, December 7. Parade time will be at 2 p.m.
Anyone who loves a rocking parade needs to be in Mamou to experience the unusual sights and sounds of Mamou’s annual Christmas celebration.
Anyone wishing to participate in the parade must register by contacting Parade Coordinator and Chairman Belle Deshotels at 305-0616.
There will be Cajun bands, beauty queens, floats of all kinds and designs, marching units and an overflow crowd.
The parade will assemble as usual at the Mamou High School grounds, beginning at 1 p.m. and eventually wind up at Mamou Town Hall, where the children will be given bags of candy and where Santa will arrive on his big red sleigh pulled by egrets.
All groups and individuals are invited to participate. There is no cost to enter, but everyone must register with Deshotels. There will be no four-wheelers allowed.
This year’s parade marks the 23rd annual Christmas observance in the Town of Mamou.
