Minister’s Corner: The start of a new year
Christmas has passed, the wrapping paper has been disposed of, what’s left of the turkey is coming to an end and here we are about to enter a brand new year. What will it hold for us? Nobody really knows, and I don’t think we would necessarily want to know. For some of us, this will be a shining new year where our hopes and aspirations will be fulfilled. For others, it might be a trying year with complications on every hand. We don’t know what this new year holds, but as Christians, we know that regardless of what we face, our God is there beside us. The Bible says in Hebrews 13:5c, “...for he hath said, ‘I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.’” What a comfort to know that not only in the joys of life, but in the challenges as well, He is there walking steadily beside us, comforting us and lifting us through our difficulties.
We need to understand that the battles that we face in life are but for the perfecting of our faith. We grow in adversity. But the valley experiences will give way to the mountaintop reprieves; so don’t get discouraged. Look to the Lord and trust in Him implicitly and take this year as it comes, relishing every moment of the life God has given you!
