Minister’s Corner: Dealing fairly with others

As you study the Old Testament prophets, you find time and again that God demanded His people deal fairly with one another. They were not to cheat one another in business, but treat everyone equally. They were not to take advantage of one another’s circumstances to prosper. They were to extend kindness and compassion to those less fortunate than themselves.
Christ not only preached this message, He demonstrated it by His actions as He ministered to every segment of Jewish society. He did not reserve His kind words or healing miracles for the wealthy or those of higher state. He treated all men equally. Acts 10:34 KJV says, “...God is no respecter of persons.” Christ’s actions spoke as loud as His words. He told His disciples that they were to give in acts of positive goodness towards others, just as God had given liberally to them.
We cannot expect to continue to receive the good gifts of God if we do not relate ourselves to others in terms of positive kindness and helpfulness. Acts 20:35 KJV says, “...It is more blessed to give than to receive.” You can’t really begin to experience the joy of the Lord until you are ready to give it away. It is imperative that we deal fairly with others.
