Hilda Fontenot DeBaillon

Funeral services will be held for Hilda Fontenot DeBaillon, 90, of Ville Platte at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 24. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Ms. DeBaillon died Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas. She lived all her life in Ville Platte (Belaire Cove). She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She worked 13 years as a cafeteria tech at Ville Platte High School. She also worked 19 years at the Ville Platte Potato Cannery. She was a faithful Christian and died at the age of 90 years old. She enjoyed sewing, canning, cooking, gardening, raising baby chicks and baking. She was known in Belaire Cove for her homemade bread and sweet dough pies.
She was a friend to all; a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. We are blessed to say her kindness and enduring love is enough to carry us through.
Survivors include four daughters, Deloris Daigle and Joe Daigle of Lake Charles, Rita Daigle and Robert Daigle of Broussard, Cheryl DeBaillon and companion Jack Baquet of Ville Platte and Tina Guidry and James Guidry of Port Barre; and one son-in-law, Charles Cortez of Atlanta, Georgia. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her 11 grandchildren, Mark Cortez, Pamela Bourgeois, Kipland Cortez, Craig Daigle, Denice Fontenot, Casey Daigle, Monica Dowden, Jake Daigle, Kyle Dupree, Michael Guidry and Chad Guidry; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph F. DeBaillon; her parents, Marie Sylvester B. Fontenot and Jules B. Fontenot; one sister, Vavion B. Fontenot; one daughter, Norma DeBaillon Cortez; one grandson, Mitchell Cortez; and one granddaughter, Monique Daigle Kelly.
