Lady Demons dominate in win over Lady Lions
The Mamou Lady Demons continued to remain perfect in district play as they dominated the Vinton Lady Lions Friday night. The Lady Demons led from the start in a 76-23 win and pushed their record to 17-6 on the year. Most importantly, Mamou moves to 4-0 in district 4-2A play.
The Lady Demons were never challenged from the opening tip. Mamou gained control in the first quarter, outscoring the Lady Lions 17-4. Staying on track in the second period, the Lady Demon offense produced another 17 points to take the 34-16 lead going into the locker room.
If the Lady Lions had any idea of making a comeback in the second half, Mamou put that concept to a quick death in the third quarter. The Lady Deomons torched Vinton for 31 points, including six three-pointers by Darelzray Bellard.
Mamou shut down the Lady Lions by holding them to only two points in the quarter. The final period was just a formality, as the Lady Demons once again outpaced Vinton 11-5 to close out the game.
On the night, Bellard put on an offensive showcase for Mamou, scoring 29 points, including nine three-pointers. Adding to the Lady Demon scoring barrage was Arkie Thomas who netted 14 points.
Mamou will host Lake Arthur on Tuesday in a key district showdown.
