Lady Bulldogs score district win over Livonia

For a team to have a shot at winning a district championship, two important things must happen; remain undefeated at home and be above .500 on the road. The Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs know this all too well, having won the title in 2013-14. On Friday night, Ville Platte went into Livonia to get one of the most important road wins over the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Bulldogs did that and more, as they walked away with an 81-50 victory.
Ville Platte opened the game with the idea of taking the crowd out of the game. The Lady Bulldogs managed to do just that as they outscored Livonia 18-13 in the first quarter.
A commanding performance in the second period allowed the Lady Bulldogs to outpace the Lady Wildcats 23-7 and stretch their lead to 41-20.
Coming out of the locker room, Ville Platte looked to keep pressure on Livonia and try to put the game out of reach. A 13-12 advantage was just what the Lady Bulldogs needed to accomplish that goal, as they took a 58-32 lead at the close of the quarter.
The play of Ville Platte in the final period granted them the ability to seal the victory, even with the Lady Wildcats outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 18-13.
Three Ville Platte players were able to score in double digits in the contest. Deja McKinney poured in 28 points to lead all scorers. Brianna Pete chipped in 15 points, while Miya McKinney added 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
With the win, Ville Platte increases their record to 21-4 on the year. Most notably, the Lady Bulldogs remain perfect in district at 5-0. Ville Platte will travel to Church Point on Tuesday to start the second round of district play.
