City sued for alleged cruel prank by detectives

A police officer who resigned after he says he was humiliated by a cruel prank by two detectives has filed a suit against the city.
The incident occurred March 18, of last year when the officer who resigned, Ethan Johns, came to work and was told the FBI wanted information from him.
Then, according to Johns’ attorney, Tony Dupre, detectives Steve Deville nd Nathanial Savoy questioned Johns as they would a suspect in a crime.
Johns was accused of sexual harassment of an elderly woman involved in a traffic incident, Dupre said, adding that the two detectives questioned Johns for about an hour, causing Johns to become “upset and distraught.”
He said Johns left the interrogation room and went to a bathroom, feeling ill. Dupre said the two detectives recorded Johns crying in the bathroom, then played the recording to others at the police station.
The attorney also said police were on duty, and used police resources, on what they thought “was the fun thing to do.” Dupre said such prank could cause distrust in the department.
He said he is involved with another case of alleged wrongdoing by detectives Savoy and Deville. Ville Platte citizen Willie Jones says he was arrested for attempted murder.
Dupre said Jones’ name was released to news media, and then after a week in jail, he was released. He said he didn’t know if Deville or Savoy were disciplined in either of the two incidents.
