Charles Darrell Chaumont

BASILE - Funeral services were held for Charles Darrell Chaumont, 80, of Basile, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 24. Burial followed in the St. Augustine Mausoleum.
Mr. Chaumont died Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou with his loving family by his side. He was retired from the oil and gas industry as a mechanic vibration analyst. He worked for the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department for a number of years. He enjoyed going to his camp at the river and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Spending time with his family was the joy of his life.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Eunice “June” Chaumont of Basile. He was also extremely loving and proud of his three daughters, Christine Bacon and her husband, James, and Rebecca Klumpp and her husband, Rapheal, all of Basile, and Julie Fontenot and her husband, Joel, of Duralde. He is also survived by his nine precious grandchildren, Richard Bacon, Jessica Denette, Ethan Bacon, Rachel Manuel, Kevin Fontenot, Sarah Bacon, John Eric Fontenot, Hannah Brightwell and Leah Trahan; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ella Mae Ray of Lake Charles; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Martha Rozas Chaumont; and three sisters, Cleola Christ, Irene Granger and Irece George.
Father David Hebert officiated.
