Trojans, Demons participate in weekend tourneys

The Sacred Heart Trojans and the Mamou Demons got some tournament playing time this weekend, despite the weather. The Trojans traveled to Oak Hill and the Demons were in Kinder to participate in their respective tournaments. Here is a rundown of the games played by Sacred Heart and Mamou.
Sacred Heart vs. Winfield
Sacred Heart took on Winfield Friday afternoon. The Trojans collected 14 hits in five innings in defeating the Tigers 17-5. Josh LaHaye threw two innings, giving up two hits and one earned run, while striking out three in picking up his first win of the year. Leading hitters were Garrick Fontenot who was three for three with three runs scored and four runs batted in and Phillip Vidrine, who was also three for three with one run scored.
Sacred Heart vs. Grant
The Trojans picked up their first defeat of the season in a 7-5 loss to Grant High School. Phillip Vidrine picked up the loss throwing six and two thirds innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits while striking out five. Leading hitter was Jacob L. Lafleur who went two for two with one run scored. The Trojans committed six errors in the game.
Sacred Heart vs. Choudrant
In the last game of the tournament, Sacred Heart run-ruled Choudrant High 14-0 to bring their record to 3-1 on the year. Josh Lahaye threw three innings to earn the win. LaHaye gave up four hits and struck out three. Phillip Vidrine and Ben Bergeron were two for two at the plate. Vidrine scored three runs and had one run batted in, while Bergeron scored two runs and batted in one run. Evan Mire was two for four with three runs batted in. Caleb Soileau hit a solo home run in the game.
Mamou vs. Rosepine
The first tournament game for Mamou was a tough 11-0 loss to the Rosepine Eagles. The Demons only collected two hits and struck out 12 times in the loss. Chris Pitre picked up the loss for Mamou, throwing three innings and giving up six runs on four hits and struck out three. At the plate, Mamou was led by Dylan Duplechin and Ronnie McBride, who were both one for two.
Mamou vs. Oakdale
The Demons rebounded against Oakdale in game two taking the 10-7 win. Hunter Fusilier picked up the win, going four complete innings. Fusilier gave up three runs on two hits and struck out four. Dylan Duplecin was two for five with two runs and two runs batted in to lead the Demons offensively. Ronnie McBride went two for four with a run scored.
Mamou vs. Menard
Mamou fell to 1-2 on the year with a 6-4 loss to the Menard Eagles. The Demons scored three runs in the last two innings to mount a comeback, but fell just short. Austin Fontenot picked up the loss, pitching three complete innings. Fontenot gave up four runs on three hits, struck out one and walked one. Mamou only had one hit in the game, that coming from Toby Fontenot. Fontenot collected two runs batted in.
