Lady Trojans drop first district game
On Tuesday, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans traveled to New Roads to take on the Catholic of Pointe Coupee Lady Hornets in the first district 5-1A game for both schools. Catholic held the Lady Trojans to one run on three hits in a 4-1 win. With the loss Sacred Heart drops to 8-5 on the year and 0-1 in district play.
The Lady Hornets picked up a run in the bottom of the second to take the early 1-0 lead. Catholic then added three runs in the bottom of the third to extend their lead. Sacred Heart’s lone run came in the top of the fourth when Courtney Vidrine crossed the plate.
Vidrine led off the top of the fourth with a single. Gabbie Andrepont struck out for the first out. Kara Aguillard then grounded out to third base, advancing Vidrine. With two outs, Caroline Fontenot singled to shallow left field, advancing Vidrine to third. Vidrine then scored on a passed ball. Hannah Lemoine struck out to end the inning.
Elizabeth Soileau suffered the loss on the mound, allowing four runs on nine hits, while walking one. Vidrine, Fontenot and Andrepont were all one for three at the plate to lead the Lady Trojans.
