Catholic Daughters hold monthly meeting
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 1, at the Sacred Heart church meeting room with Regent Barbara Delafosse presiding. The meeting opened with a prayer and a reflection on the purpose of Lent and celebration of the glorious Easter Sunday.
Delafosse wished a Happy Birthday to members celebrating a birthday in April. She asked members to call her with the names of court members who are sick or in the nursing home. She will call them to say the court is remembering them in prayer and wish them a speedy recovery.
Several announcements were made. Easter eggs were given out after 10 a.m. mass at Sacred Heart and the children were invited to participate. The court will sponsor a bingo game at Heritage Manor on Thursday, April 9, at 6 p.m.
Six court members plan to attend the state Catholic Daughters Convention in Lafayette April 23-25.
The annual salad-bingo fund raiser is set for Thursday, June 11.
The annual French Retreat was enjoyed by a large number of elderly people. Father Richard Vidrine was the celebrant. Court members who assisted in the success of the event were Verna Guillory, Celia Ardoin, Edna Soileau, Peggy Soileau, Barbara Vidrine and Mary Jenkins.
The meeting was closed with a recitation of the Way of the Cross by the members in attendance. A cake was enjoyed during the social hour following the meeting.
