Man charged with two counts of rape of a juvenile

Ville Platte Police Department detectives began an investigation on March 31, of indecent behavior with two juveniles on Martin Luther King Drive in Ville Platte.
Once the investigation was completed, detectives reported their findings to Child Protective Services and obtained a warrant of arrest for the suspect.
Melvin Watson, 66, 508 martin Luther King Drive, Ville Platte was arrested on April 9. Watson was charged with two counts of aggravated rape of a juvenile and was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail. He was later transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office on a $500,000 bond set by 13th Judicial District Judge Chuck West.
