Catholic Daughters attend state convention

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, won third place in the Cajun Culture Centerpiece Contest. The members attending the state convention in Lafayette were Regent Barbara Delafosse, Faye Lafleur, Miranda Roberie, Darlene Roberie, Ramona Lafleur, Cathy Coldiron and Barbara Vidrine.
The monthly CDA meeting was held on Wednesday, May 6, at the Sacred Heart meeting room with Delafosse presiding. A report on the convention was given by the members who attended the event.
Plans were made for the court’s annual fund raiser, a salad-bingo, which will be held Thursday, June 11, at the Northside Civic Center. Tickets are $12 each and may be purchased from any Catholic Daughter. Ten regular games and one black-out game will be played. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., the meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the games will begin at 7 p.m. Door prizes will awarded and chances may be purchased on an LSU basket, a Saints basket and a chocolate basket. Tickets to attend must be purchased by June 3. Committees for the preparation tasks were discussed.
The local CDA court was invited to the Opelousas CDA salad-bingo to be held Saturday, August 1. If anyone is interested in attending this event, please contact Barbara Delafosse (224-7795).
