LA Rural Caucus re-elects LeBas as vice chairman

BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Rural Caucus announced the election of officers for 2015-2016. Representative Bernard LeBas of Ville Platte, has been re-elected as Vice Chairman of the Legislative Rural Caucus.
The officers are Representatives Jack Montoucet of Crowley, Chairman; Bernard LeBas of Ville Platte, Vice Chairman; and Dorothy Sue Hill of Dry Creek, Secretary/Treasurer.
The Rural Caucus, whose membership includes 87 legislators from around the state, is an organization that serves to promote and better the conditions and objectives of rural areas of Louisiana.
“I am honored to serve the Rural Caucus, and look forward to working hard with my fellow caucus members to serve our constituents and promote the ideals and objectives of rural Louisiana. I am confident that we can find common ideas and share solutions that address the issues in our state,” said LaBas.
Elected to the House in 2007, LeBas serves on the House Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development; Health and Welfare; and Transportation, Highways, and Public Works committees; as well as the Atchafalaya Basin Program Oversight Committee. He is also a member of the Democratic Caucus and the Acadiana Delegation. LeBas represents House District 38, which encompasses part of Evangeline and St. Landry Parishes.
