Vidrine to participate in LHSCA all-star games
Recent Sacred Heart graduate and outstanding Trojan pitcher, Phillip Vidrine, has been selected to participate in the Louisiana High School Coaches Association all-star baseball series. Vidrine has been selected amongst all graduating senior players from all classes to represent the Trojans and class 1A on the all-star team.
The all-star games will be played in Denham Springs at North Park on Friday May 29, and Saturday May 30. Friday’s game is set for 7 p.m. and Saturday’s game is set for 12:15 p.m.
Vidrine was very humbled to be chosen to participate in this year’s all-star games. “I was really overjoyed to be asked to participate,” said an enthusiastic Vidrine. “I am so excited to represent my team, my school and this town in these games.”
After the all-star series, Vidrine has plans to play on the next level. “I’m hoping to continue my career on the next level,” stated Vidrine. “I have some different schools that have shown interest in me and I just want to be able to go somewhere and have fun playing ball.” Vidrine has already visited a couple of schools and is considering his options at this time. He plans on majoring in business management and hopes to take over his dad’s business in a few years. This would be the third generation to be a part of ACE Hardware.
When asked about not being coached by his dad for the first time in a number of years, Vidrine grinned slyly. “It will be both good and bad not to see him on a daily basis and have him coach me,” chuckled Vidrine. “It will be different for both of us, especially from him coaching me to sitting in the stands and watching. It has been a great experience to have my dad coach me all these years and I will miss him being out there.”
