WEST COLUMBIA, Texas - Funeral services will be held for Peter Bellard, 69, of West Columbia, Texas, at St. Paul AME Church in West Columbia, Texas, at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 20. Burial will follow in the Paradise Cemetery.
Mr. Bellard died Sunday, August 16, 2015, at his residence. He was born on December 11, 1945, in Ville Platte to Tom Bellard and Agnes Watson Bellard. He was employed with Amoco Chemical in Chocolate Bayou as maintenance supervisor for 29 years until his retirement. After his retirement, Peter and his loving wife, Fannie, worked together in their construction business. He loved his family and spending time with them in Texas and Louisiana. He loved the holidays, watching football and basketball games and giving orders in his “Cajun” voice for specific things he wanted done. He was the “head” of his house and was treated like a “King!”
Survivors include his devoted wife and companion of 46 years, Fannie Bellard of West Columbia, Texas; four children, Kimberly Baltrip of West Columbia, Texas, Candice Washington and her husband, Keith, of Lake Jackson, Texas, Tammy Moon of Houston, Texas, and Christopher Bellard of Ville Platte; two beloved grandchildren, Keith Washington II and Kacie Washington; two sisters, Elsie Mae Bellard of Ville Platte and Nancy Gallow and her husband, Earlest, of Lawtell; three godchildren; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
Pastor Mark C. Davis will officiate.
E. Viola and Son Funeral Home of West Columbia, Texas, will be in charge of arrangements.
