Basile looks to remain undefeated

Coming off of a big win over Ville Platte, the 2-0 Basile Bearcats will travel to South Cameron on Thursday night hoping to remain undefeated on the season. Game time in Creole is set for 7 p.m.
Against the Bulldogs this past Friday, the Bearcats used a bend but don’t break mentality to take the 7-0 win. Ville Platte accumulated 169 yards of offense against Basile, but did not come away with any points in the game.
“After looking at the film, I thought our defense played better than I thought against Ville Platte,” said Basile head coach Kevin Bertrand. “We worked the game plan we had coming in; making them drive the field.”
Offensively, however, Bertrand was a little more critical in his evaluation. The Bearcats only collected 66 yards of total offense against the Bulldogs.
“They (Ville Platte) gave us some trouble with how they attacked us defensively,” stated Bertrand. “We made some mistakes on our blocking assignmentsWe are looking to clean that up this week.”
Bertrand is not taking South Cameron lightly despite their 1-1 record. The Tarpons lost to Dequincy 39-8 this past Friday.
“South Cameron is an improved team,” stated Bertrand. “They have a very young team the last two years and now those guys are veterans. Their only weakness is their depth. But, their starters are good football players. We are definitely going to have to play well to come away with a win.”
