Please include these young participants on your registration form with a waiver signed by a guardian. Forms are available at Savoy Cancer Center, The Crawfish Barn and Deshotel’s Drugs.
Prizes will be awarded to the overall first, second and third place winners.
Entertainment will be provided by Geno Delafosse and Ferral Manuel and Wild Rice. There will also be games at the La Cabon Pavilion following the race. Food and drinks will be sold beginning at 10 a.m.
In addition to the run/walk, the Flush Away Cancer campaign is currently underway through the end of October. Area residents and businesses are “getting flushed” to raise additional funds money for the Savoy Cancer Foundation. Volunteer Phyllis Soileau notes, “If a toilet is brought to your house, for $10 you can get it removed, for $20 you can send it to a friend and for $30 it doesn’t come back and it goes to a friend.” She shared, “Residents get fired up when you bring it to them and they get kind of disappointed when you go to take it away from them. But the faster we move the toilets, the more money you make.” The Flush Away Cancer campaign raised $3,000 last year and volunteers are hoping to double that amount this year.
