So far this season, it has been a struggle for Mamou High School football. The Demons are now 0-5 on the year after a 54-0 loss at the hands of Oakdale this past Thursday night. The bright spot for Mamou; the season is not yet done.
“We still have five games left to continue to improve,” said Demon head coach Brian Brumfield. “The players are still giving everything they have on the field. Last week we came out flat. That is something you cannot do against good teams like Oakdale.”
Mamou will host the Lake Arthur Tigers this Friday. Not only is it the opening district game, it is also homecoming for the Demons. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
“Homecoming is always special,” stated Brumfield. “Hopefully the atmosphere will fire the players up this week and get us ready for Lake Arthur.”
Lake Arthur comes into the game with an overall record of 3-2. The Tigers lost to Jennings in a 68-56 shootout this past Friday. Lake Arthur has averaged 38 point per game in 2015.
“Lake Arthur is a solid ball club,” commented Brumfield. “They have a really good running game and they are big and aggressive on defense. It does not look that they are as fast as some of the teams we have played this year, but they do things the right way.”
