Kern Joseph Fontenot

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Kern Joseph Fontenot, 71, of Pineville, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 21. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Mr. Fontenot, formerly of Mamou, died Monday, October 19, 2015, at his residence. He was a farmer, worked offshore, was a salesman, and finally retired as a crane operator from ATS Drilling in Texas. He loved to laugh and spend time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Jonathan Fontenot (Brenda) of Opelousas, Darrel Fontenot (Debbie) of Foley, Alabama, Mike Fontenot (Jessica) of Mamou, Troy Fontenot (Anne) and Anna Fontenot, both of Pineville, and Chris Fontenot and Liz Fontenot, both of Texas; one brother, Roderick Fontenot of Mamou; two sisters, Abigail Bellard and Phoebe Chellett, both of Mamou; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Hattie Fontenot; and one niece, Marie Fontenot.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to his nurses from St. Joseph’s Hospice, Rachel and Jennifer. Also to Dolly and Irvin Douzart for taking time to visit with him each week.
