Mamou Police Dept. capture wanted man

Mamou Police Department captured wanted man Shawn Daniels.
On October 14, 2015 the MPD received a copy of a warrant that had been issued on Daniels for aggravated sex assault on a child under the age of 14. Authorities believed that Daniels was residing in Mamou.
Around at 11:00 a.m., after confirming that Daniels was in fact living at 820 Ash St., Mamou, MPD officers Wesley Childress, Juvenile Officer Katina Richard, Constable Brent Zackery and Phyliss Soileau along with the assistance of Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Uhlman proceeded to the residence only to discover that Daniels was not there.
According to a press release issued by the MPD, following the discovery that Daniels was not home “authorities continued the hunt and shortly after noticed Daniels riding in the vehicle with another and immediately the vehicle was stopped on the 800 block of Hackberry” around 12:13 p.m.
After being identified, Daniels was arrested by the MPD authorities and booked in the towns jail.
According to the press release, during the booking process authorities learned that Daniels had a minor child attending school in Mamou. Richard and Soileau began work on contacting the child’s mother. After working with the Department of Family Service the child’s mother was located in Texas and the child was safely returned to his mother.
Daniels has now been transferred to EPSO and is incarcerated in the parish jail.
The MPD has also made another major arrest recently.
Kathleen Thomas, of Eunice, was arrested on October 13 after according to a press releases the “MPD received a call from a local pharmacy in reference to someone altering a prescription.
After contacting the physicians office that the prescription was from, MPD were able to figure out that the prescription belonged to 51-year-old, Thomas.
Childress and Richard were then able to work with Eunice Police Department detective A.J. Frank on apprehending the warrant. Thomas was booked into Mamou’s town jail and then later transported to EPSO.
