Dupre enters hall; Tate joins LSU-A

Alcide “Alley” Dupre, formerly of Prarie Ronde, has recently been inducted into the 2015 ASA Softball Hall of Fame. Alley played softball from 1966 to 1996.
He played with various Class A teams including Prof Ernie of Lafayette, Athletic Shop of Hammond, The Lake Charles Lakers, and the Shetler Cougars of Lake Charles.
Tournaments were played all over Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. The Cougars placed 2nd in the World Tournament in Hutchinson, KS. The Cougars also won the Knights of Columbus World Tournament in Wausau, WI.
In 1982, the Cougars won the State Title. Carl Shetler was the sponsor of the team and he was also inducted in the Hall of “Fame for Outstanding Coach/Sponsor. Alley is married to Vicki Vizinat, formerly of Ville Platte.

Tate to participate on National Team
Whitney Tate, daughter of Robbie and Christy Tate, has been selected to play with America’s Team this summer.
America’s Team is based out of Houston, Texas and will be travelling to the Dominican Republic to play softball against teams from around that country.
The team will begin play on July 10 and will round out their tour on July 17.
Tate, a freshman at Sacred Heart has committed to play softball at McNeese

Tate named LSUA assistant softball coach
Ville Platte native Robbie Tate has been selected as the new assistant softball coach at LSUA.
Tate will be in charge of pitching as well as helping in other areas of the game.
He is married to Christy Tate and has two children, Whitney and Rylie.
