Sen. Eric LaFleur (D-Ville Platte) will be front and center when the Louisiana legislature deals with the budget issue during the upcoming special session.
LaFleur, who was reelected without opposition in the fall, was selected by Louisiana Senate President John Alario (R-Westwego) as the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, which helps craft the state’s annual budget and closing shortfalls.
LaFleur already serves on the Insurance Committee and Judiciary B Committee.
Sen. J.P. Morrell (D-New Orleans) was also selected as chairman of the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee, which handles tax legislation and develops the state construction budget.
The special session to deal with the state’s budget woes will take place in February.
