Ville Platte, Pine Prairie win key games

The Ville Platte High Lady Bulldogs and the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers got key wins in district play Tuesday night.
However, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Ville Platte Bulldogs fell in their contests.
Here is a re-cap of those games played.
Ville Platte (G)
vs. Port Barre
Ville Platte used a 23-point fourth quarter to pull away from Port Barre to take a 52-34 win in District 5-3A play.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 15-7 on the year and more importantly remain undefeated in district at 4-0.
Kealogah Calvin led Ville Platte with 17 points, while Miya McKinney and Kabreonna Stevens each chipped in 10 points each.
Pine Prairie (G)
vs. Church Point
Pine Prairie used an impressive defensive effort and a 20-3 scoring advantage in the second quarter to cruise to a 50-20 win over Church Point.
The Lady Panthers only managed five points in the first quarter and trailed the Lady Bears by two.
However, Pine Prairie outscored Church Point 45-13 the rest of the way.
Sarah Vidrine popped the nets for 16 points to lead the Lady Panthers.
With the win, the Lady Panthers are now 6-12 on the year and 1-3 in district.
Sacred Heart (G)
vs. Rosepine
Sacred Heart failed to score in double digits in three of the four quarters en route to a 46-36 non-district loss to Rosepine.
Sacred Heart falls to 11-7 on the year and will face David Thibodaux Friday night in a district contest.
Erin Fontenot led all Lady Trojans with six points.
Ville Platte (B)
vs. Port Barre
A slow start on offense for Ville Platte Tuesday night cost them a district win in a 63-52 loss to Port Barre.
Ville Platte only managed nine points in the first quarter and 17 points in the first half.
Ville Platte falls to 6-10 on the year and 0-2 in district play with the loss.
Keilan Semien had 18 points and Brandon Thomas knocked down 13 points for the Bulldogs in the loss.
Basile Wrestling
penalized by LHSAA
The Basile High wrestling team was penalized by the LHSAA for having a wrestler who lost too much weight.
The school was fined and the wrestler in question will have to sit out the rest of the season.
School administrators did not have a comment when contacted.
