Pine Prairie Zoning Commission approves new business

PINE PRAIRIE – At the Village of Pine Prairie’s Zoning Commission meeting Wednesday night the board discussed Keith Jackson’s request to open a flea market within the community.
Jackson, who is in the process of purchasing a building at 1427 Railroad Street, informed the board of the plans he has to open a business in the village that would provide residents with a place to purchase mercantile items locally. Jackson said, “For now I would be using the center of the building to sell mercantile items such as plumbing and electrical supplies, as well as have a flea market.”
Jackson’s plan to bring a new business into Pine Prairie doesn’t end there, however. Jackson said, “Down the road I hope to also open an auction at this location like they have in Reddell.”
Before the commission approved Jackson’s request, the village’s mayor Terry Savant informed Jackson that the auction would for sure have to come later on. Savant said, “As of right now, the fire marshal has only approved selling mercantile items which would not include an auction.”
Jackson assured the zoning commission that his plan to have an auction wouldn’t happen until it had been approved, but he still wanted to let the commission know that those are his future plans.
Other items approved were:
•Approval of Keith Jackson’s request to open Pine Prairie Detail.
•Approval of Bruce Ardoin’s request to place a mobile home at 1526 Ash Street.
