Locations for market, mobile home approved by Pine Prairie Council

PINE PRAIRIE — During the February 11, meeting of the Pine Prairie Village Council, several items were unanimously approved.
Council members approved and ratified the Pine Prairie Zoning Commission’s approval for Keith Jackson to open a flea market at 1427 Railroad Street and for Bruce Ardoin to place a mobile home at 1526 Ash Street.
In police department business, the council accepted the resignation of Officer Kevin Tate from the Pine Prairie Police Department, effective February 17. The council also approved Chief L.C. Deshotel’s recommendation to hire Ben Bordelon as a full-time police officer, pending the results of his drug screen and physical exam.
Mayor Terry Savant, in his report, stated that he still had not received any information on the prison contract. Village Attorney Greg Vidrine said he spoke with the company’s representative in Florida, and she told him she would be sending the paperwork soon.
In other business, the council:
•Approved the minutes of the January 14, regular meeting.
•Approved the payment of monthly expenditures.
