EPSB elects new board member to executive committee position

During the Evangeline Parish School Board’s Wednesday night meeting, board president Wayne Dardeau announced that there was an opening on the school board’s executive committee.
When the president opened nominations to fill the recent vacancy on the committee, board member Arthur Savoy nominated board member Darren Vidrine for the position.
With no other nominations being made and Vidrine accepting the nomination, the president announced that Vidrine had been elected to the executive committee.
The seat on the committee became open after board member Peggy Forman resigned from the position.
Following Vidrine’s election to the committee Forman asked to make a statement concerning why she had made her decision to step down.
“I just want to clear up some myths that are out there. I am not going anywhere. I’m not moving to Tennessee, and my husband is not sick. I will still be a board member,” said Forman. “I just felt like with the changes in the board, it is not a bad thing to rotate all of your board members on these committees. This means we will have board members with new ideas to contribute to the committee.”
Before ending her speech concerning this matter, Forman took the time to thank the board members she has served with.
Forman said, “I have definitely enjoyed serving. It has been a long time, but it is time for somebody else to fill this position. I just want to say thank you to all of the board members.”
Other items approved were:
Approval of ISU Lemoine Insurance Agency as the school board’s insurance agent for the next three fiscal years beginning July 1, 2016.
Approval of the payment of bills to First Student in the amount of $290,545.97.
Approval for a requisition to Shell credit card for $5,885.31 for regular education and maintenance fuel.
Approval of the payment to Modern Technologies in the amount of $14,892.21 to upgrade computers for testing at VPHS
