Ville Platte
Head Coach: Devinskie Arvie
Last Season: 0-12
Last Playoff Appearance: 1997
(Lost in Quarterfinals)
District: 5-3A
Returning starters: Logan Frank, Whitney Ledoux, Josie Lartigue, Kirsten Bolfa
Outlook: For Ville Platte to have any success this season, head coach Devinskie Arvie will need seventh grader, Kenderlin Doucet, to produce on the mound. The Lady Bulldogs have not won a game in two years and are hoping to end that streak this season.
Pine Prairie
Head Coach: Carolyn Deville
Last Season: 29-8
Last Playoff Appearance: 2015 (Lost in Regionals to Kinder)
District: 5-3A
Returning starters: Julia Chaddrick, Macy Harvey, Tori Bordelon, Shaina Boutte
Outlook: The Lady Panthers only return four starters from last year’s squad. Head coach Carolyn Deville will look for her team to be aggressive at the plate and will have to rely on a first year starting pitcher, Karli Ortego and first year starting catcher Sara Tate for production. Despite the lack of playing experience, Pine Prairie has one of the most talented groups around the area.
Mamou
Head Coach: Kim Manuel
Last Season: 12-9
Last Playoff Appearance: 2015
(Lost in Bi-District to Kinder)
District: 4-2A
Returning starters: Kaitee Bertrand, Kourtnie Deshotels, Lauren Soileau, Maggie Soileau Outlook: The Lady Demons will have to replace very productive players from a well balanced team last year. Head coach Kim Manuel is looking for her younger players to step up on the mound and defensively to repeat the success from last season. Mamou has shown that it is a team to be reckoned with in the past few years.
Sacred Heart
Head Coach: Glenn Lafleur
Last Season: 26-5
Last Playoff Appearance: 2015
(Lost in Quarterfinals to Mangham)
District: 5-2A
Returning starters: Kara Aguillard, Gabbie Andrepont, Caroline Fontenot, Laura Beth Fontenot, Logan Shipp, Sarah Soileau
Outlook: First year head coach Glenn Lafleur has a number of returning starters to count on from a team that made it all the way to the state tournament last season. Offensively, the Lady Trojans will be able to produce runs. The key this season will be the production on the mound from first year starting senior Baylee Veillon and her defensive unit.
