Pine Prairie softball picks up three wins over two day span

The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers picked up three wins over the past two days, two of those were district contests.
Here is a re-cap of those games as well as other baseball/softball action from around the parish.
Pine Prairie softball
On Monday, the Lady Panthers rolled to a 13-1 win in five innings over the Marksville Lady Tigers.
Pine Prairie scored one run in the first, four in the third and eight runs in the fourth to roll past Marksville. The Lady Panthers only need four hits, including a home run from Jacie McFarlain to finish off the Lady Tigers.
On Tuesday, Pine Prairie played an unusual double-header. The Lady Panthers faced off against Ville Platte at home and then traveled to Eunice for the night cap.
Against Ville Platte, Tori Johnson was one walk away from a perfect game, pitching a shutout, including 21 strikeouts in a 19-0 blanking of the Lady Bulldogs.
In the night cap, Sara Tate was 2 for 3 with a home run and three runs batted in, helping lead Pine Prairie to a 13-0 win over Eunice.
With the three wins, the Lady Panthers remain perfect on the season with a 14-0 record and are 2-0 in District 5-3A play.
Sacred Heart vs. St. Ed’s
The Sacred Lady Trojans hosted long time rival St. Ed’s Tuesday afternoon in a non-district contest.
Sacred Heart scrapped together two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and held on to take the 5-3 win over the Lady Jays.
Baylee Veillon went the distance on the hill giving up three runs, while striking out two.
Karli Fontenot and Kara Aguillard each had two hits in the game.
Mamou vs. Ville Platte
The Mamou High baseball team evened their record on the season at 6-6 after defeating Ville Platte on Monday by the score of 8-3.
The Demons collected six hits on the day, including two home runs from Dylan Duplechin to secure the win.
Ville Platte was limited to three hits on the day by starting Demon pitcher Gavin Pommier.
With the loss, Ville Platte drops to 2-3 on the year.
Pine Prairie vs. Westminster
On Tuesday, the Pine Praire baseball team took to the road Tuesday to face off against the Westminster Crusaders in a non-district contest.
The Panthers collected seven hits, including two doubles, but also struck out eight times in a 5-2 loss to the Crusaders.
The Panthers were lead by Dylan Doucet, who was two for three on the day.
