Trojans, Lady Panthers pick up power points with wins

The Sacred Heart Trojans and the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers picked up huge non-district wins to help improve on their power point totals.
Meanwhile the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans had their game against district rival Notre Dame suspended Thursday because of weather with the game tied at 1-1.

Sacred Heart vs. Oak Hill
The Sacred Heart Trojans improved to 7-5 on the season with a five inning 10-0 run rule win over the Oak Hill Rams in a non-district contest Thursday afternoon.
Sacred Heart scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the first, when Jacob A. Lafleur scored with a bases loaded walk.
The Trojans added another run in the second to extend the lead to 2-0.
But, the big inning for Sacred Heart came in the bottom of the third, as the Trojans batted around and plated seven runs in the inning.
The Trojans finished the game in the bottom of the fifth by scoring a single run to close out the run-rule win.
In the inning Alec Gotro walked and scored on a double from Caleb Soileau.
Brandon Fontenot and Jacob L. Lafleur combined for the shut out.
Fontenot worked four innings, giving up four hits, while striking out six and walking one.
Leading the way at the plate for the Trojans was Jacob L. Lafleur who went two for three with a double and Soileau who was also two for three with a double.

Pine Prairie vs. St. Ed’s
The Lady Panthers remained undefeated on the season after picking up a 2-0 non-district win over the St. Ed’s Lady Blue Jays in Pine Prairie Wednesday afternoon.
This was Pine Prairie’s fourth game of the week, after playing one game on Monday and a doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers are now 15-0 on the season with the win.
St. Ed’s threatened in the top of the first inning getting their lead off hitter to second base. But, Lady Panther starting pitcher Karli Ortego worker her way out of the jam with the help of her defensive unit.
Pine Prairie could not score in the bottom of the first.
Pine Prairie picked up their first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning when Jacie McFarlain scored on a two out base hit by Julia Chaddrick.
The Lady Panthers added another run in the fifth as Chaddrick doubled this time to score McFarlain once again and seal the win for Pine Prairie.
Chaddrick led all Lady Panther hitters, going 2 for 3 with two runs batted in.
Ortego picked up the shut-out win, allowing six hits while recording four strike outs and walking one.
The Lady Panthers will travel to Sulphur for tournament play on Saturday, looking to keep their perfect record in tact.
