Pine Prairie, Sacred Heart softball earns playoff berths

The softball season has been extended for a pair of Evangeline Parish high school teams.
Pine Prairie High and Sacred Heart both earned berths in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association softball playoffs on Thursday.
Pine Prairie (24-5) received the No. 8 seed in the Class 3A bracket and will face No. 25 Berwick in the opening round.
Sacred Heart (12-12) meanwhile earned the No. 20 seed in the Class 2A bracket and will travel to face No. 13 Opelousas Catholic in the opening round.
First-round games must be completed by this coming Tuesday night. No word yet on what dates and times Pine Prairie and Sacred Heart will be playing their games.
