Woodrow Veillon

Funeral services will be held for Woodrow Veillon, 95, of Chataignier, at the LaVille Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 23.
Mr. Veillon died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte. He lived in Chataignier and took care of his parents, John E. and Lena Manuel Veillon until the time of their deaths. He worked for the Opelousas Production Credit Association in Ville Platte and Opelousas, retiring as vice president with the association. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening (flower and vegetable), reading and television later in life (especially the cooking channels). He served as a third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus in the Chataignier Council and took part in civic and social activities in Chataignier and Evangeline Parish.
Survivors include one niece, Mary Budd of Opelousas; two nephews, John Budd of Columbia, Missouri, and Foster Budd (Phyllis) of Prairie Ronde; one cousin, Richard Rozas of Chataignier; and two great-nieces, Sue Anne Hatchett (Stoney) of Mandeville and Sharon Gorman (Luke) of Grapevine, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Lena Manuel Veillon; and one sister, Mildred V. Budd.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 22, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m., and will resume Saturday, April 23, at 8 a.m. until time of service.
The family thanks Dr. Henry Dupre and the staff of Dupre Medical Clinic and the emergency room and other staff at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte for the excellent care given during this time of need and over the past years.
