Eugene “Pop Gene” Celestine

MAMOU - Funeral services will be held for Eugene “Pop Gene” Celestine, 75, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 14. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Mr. Celestine died Sunday, May 8, 2016. He was the owner and operator of Celestine Bar-B-Q Stand for several years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Joyce Celestine of Mamou; one son, Ralph Celestine of Mamou; one daughter, Susan Harris of Crosby, Texas; six brothers, Clinton Celestine Jr. of Mamou, Curtis Celestine, Welton Celstine and Mickey Guillory, all of Houston Texas, Harry Coward of Lake Charles and Alex Richard of Michigan; two sisters, Lena Ledet of Eunice and Beverly Tomson of Houston, Texas; one sister in Christ, Jerry Ardoin of Mamou; one great-aunt, Vernice Ardoin of Mamou; five grandchildren, Kae Walker of Baytown, Texas, Kelli Arceneaux of Atascocita, Texas, Nikki Celestine of Mamou and Jade Celestine and Kelsi Celestine, both of Humble, Texas; six great-grandchildren; four godchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends; and his Godparents, Celamon Celestine and Chester Collins of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Celestine and Corrine Durgan; two sisters, Martha Jean Frank and Shirley Lemonia; and one brother, Anthony Celestine.
At the request of the Celestine family, visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 7 p.m. Friday evening.
Father Kaspar Arulsamy will officiate.
