Lola ‘Doris’ Hamblin

TURKEY CREEK - Funeral services were held for Lola ‘Doris’ Hamblin, 75, of LeCompte, at the White Oaks Memorial Chapel in Oakdale at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 18. Military rites were conducted by the Fort Polk Honor Guard. Burial followed in the Turkey Creek Cemetery.
Ms. Hamblin died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, with her loving family by her side. She was born August 20, 1940, in Turkey Creek to the union of Jonas Causey and Alice Hazelton Causey. She graduated from Kinder High School and went on to serve her country in the United States Army. On April 8, 1961, she married David W. Hamblin in Columbia, South Carolina. She worked for and retired from Remington Arms in 1986, when she and her husband opened and ran “Hamblin’s Grocery in Astoria, Illinois, until 1997. She loved to bowl and spend time with her family. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald W. (Diane) Hamblin of Hendersonville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Brittany Hamblin, Dalton Hamblin, Lauren Hamblin and Austin Hamblin, all of Hendersonville, Tennessee; one brother, Ralph Causey of DeRidder; two sisters, Verlin Walker of Alexandria and Elaine Oszustowitz of Shreveport; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas Causey and Alice Hazelton Causey; her husband, David W. Hamblin; one brother, Vernon Causey; and one sister, Juanita Johnson.
Pastor Greg Strother officiated.
White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale was in charge of arrangements.
