Tate, Fontenot earn post-season honors

The Pine Prairie duo of Sara Tate and Josh Fontenot have garnered some big post-season rewards from their respective performances in the 2016 Class 3A baseball and softball seasons.
Tate, the District 5-3A MVP and Evangeline Parish MVP was also named to three other select teams recently.
Tate was named to the Louisiana Sports Writer’s all-state honorable mention list, as well as being named to the Louisiana Softball Coach’s Association first team. She was also selected on the Acadiana Advocate’s All-Metro second team.
Tate, a junior catcher for Pine Prairie, helped lead the Lady Panthers to the Class 3A quarterfinals after batting .394 on the year, including eight homer, nine doubles and 39 runs scored.
Fontenot, a senior outfielder for the Panthers, was also selected to the Acadiana Advocate’s All-Metro second team for baseball.
Fontenot batted .522 on the year with four home runs and scored 30 times. Fontenot earned first team all-district honors in District 5-3A and was a first team all-parish selection.
