The Ville Platte Dixie Youth Pitching Machine All-Stars completed their season this past weekend in Monroe at the State Tournament.
Even though the young players did not place at the final tourney of the season, the all-stars did put forth a valiant effort all summer long, according to head coach Ross Duos.
“We played with great pride this past weekend,” said Duos. “The kids gave a tremendous effort throughout the entire all-star season. Unfortunately, it was just not in the cards for us this year.”
The all-stars did come out second place at the sub-district tournament earlier in the season. From there Ville Platte competed in the district tournament. Because of their play at district, Ville Platte was asked to participate in the state tournament.
“It was a huge honor for us to compete at state,” stated Duos. “I am just so proud of how much progress the team made throughout the season. We learned a lot and had fun in the process. I just want to thank all of the people that supported us the whole way.”
“I especially want to thank my assistant coaches Duke Lafleur, Joffre Fuselier and Lance Chapman,” he continued. “They were a big help and the players learned a lot from them.”
