Pat Derouselle was voted as the new Chairman of the Evangeline Parish 9-1-1-OEP Board.
The longtime secretary-treasurer of the board had been serving as interim chairman after the resignation of Kent Fontenot in May.
“I have been part of this board for a long time and to see our 10-year master plan come true is rewarding,” Derouselle said. “We are going to make sure we give the public the best service in the state.”
9-1-1 Director Liz Hill informed the board that they had hired 14 part-time dispatchers, and that the new employees had already completed eight hours of orientation and are currently going through training classes.
Assistant District Attorney Nicole Gil talked with the board about an intergovernmental agreement and donation concerning air conditioning units, and other equipment that remain in the 9-1-1’s former home. After some discussion, Gil said she would consult with EPSO attorney Gregory Vidrine about the agreement and donation.
The board also officially welcomed Chester Granger as a member to the board. Granger was selected by the Evangeline Parish Police Jury to replace Fontenot.
Other items approved at the meeting were:
• Entering a air conditioning maintence state contract with ARCCO Power Systems.
•Amend 2016 Budget.
•The 2015 Audit Report by Vic Slaven.
