Pine Prairie resident leads MPD on high speed chase

On July 7, 2016, a routine traffic stop for speeding in Mamou turned into a high speed chase.
The chase came to an end on Heritage Rd., near the Boggy Bayou Festival grounds, and resulted in the arrest of John Blake Deshotel of Pine Prairie.
Deshotel was arrested and charged with aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, reckless operation, maximum speed limit, following vehicles to close, failure to stop at a stop sign and yield at a yield sign, no lights around license plate, illegal turning movements, expired driver’s license, no driver’s license on person, missing driver’s lamps, limitation on passing on the left side of the road, driving on right side of the road, display of acceleration, vehicle with excessive smoke, proper equipment required on vehicle missing, and modification of exhaust system.
Mamou Police Department Police Chief Brent Zachery said, “I would like to thank the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office and Pine Prairie Police Department for assisting us in making this arrest.”
Another recent arrest made by the MPD was of Mallory White, an escapee from the Oakdale Police Department.
Sergeant Nicole Price and Detective Josh Uhlman located White, 41, at an apartment complex on East St. in Mamou.
The black male was arrested without resistance on July 10, 2016, and was picked up by OPD.
