J.C. SYLVESTER

GRAND PRAIRIE - Funeral services for J.C. Sylvester, 80, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Grand Prairie with burial to follow in the St. Andrew Cemetery in Plaisance.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 3-9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at (pending), and will resume again Friday, August 12, 2016 at 8 a.m. until the time of services.
Sylvester, a resident of Grand Prairie, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Heart Hospital in Lafayette.
Sylvester served his country in the Korean Conflict, and he served as a military policeman in Germany for three years. He retired from the American Can Company. Sylvester moved back from New Orleans to reside in Grand Prairie, where he raised cattle. His proudest moments were with family and especially his grandchildren.
He will be missed by his loving wife Burnal Richard Sylvester of Grand Prairie; son J. Richard Sylvester and wife Tasha of Grand Prairie; two grandchildren, Sammy Sylvester and Micah Sylvester; and one great-grandchild, Dalton Sylvester. He is preceded in death by his parents Nolan and Myra Soileau Sylvester, brothers Clarence and Clinton Sylvester.
