At Pine Prairie’s council meeting on Thursday, council member Tammy Hammond brought up the fact that residents have approached her with complaints about trash along Veterans Memorial Highway.
Hammond said, “People have asked me if there is something that we can do with the cut up paper that is all over the place after the grass has been cut.”
The rest of the council agreed that this problem needs to be taken care of.
Mayor Pro Tem Quint West said, “We need to start taking the time to pick up the trash before we cut the grass.”
Another way to remedy this problem Hammond said could be done by having a clean up day in the town.
Hammond said, “It would be nice if we could look into every once in a while maybe having a clean up day like we did two years ago where we go around the entire town and pick up trash to keep this from happening.”
Other items discussed and approved at the meeting were:
• Adoption of Resolution #4-2016 for the LGAP grant.
• Acceptance of Josh Estes’ resignation from the police department effective August 31, 2016.
