Evangeline Parish 9-1-1 Director Liz Hill provided an update on the facility’s generator at The Industrial Park in Ville Platte.
The generator is in and in place where it’s supposed to be,” Hill said. “We are on the waiting list for the plumbing and the electricians are also aware.”
Hill also said that to have the generator become fully functional it will need to have its uninterruptible power supply (UPS) upgraded from a Phase 1 to a Phase 3. Hill said that will cost an estimated $12,000. That expense though will be taken care of by amending a previous grant.
During her Director’s Report, Hill also discussed wanting to move two part-time dispatchers that are making $9.50 per hour but only working 28-30 hours a week to making $8.50 per hour but working 40 hours per week.
Hill said that if the 9-1-1 Board took over its own payroll that it would save them around $12,000 per year, which would cancel out the additional cost of converting two part-time dispatchers into full-time employees.
No action was taken at this time on those initiatives.
Assistant District Attorney Nicole Gill, who serves as the 9-1-1 Board’s legal counsel, informed the board that herself and Hill will be meeting soon with Evangeline Parish Sheriff Eddie Soileau to iron out a few issues with dispatching calls, in particular calls with Acadiana Ambulance.
No date has been set as of yet for the meeting.
Other items that the board approved unanimously:
• A motion to obtain quotes for someone to cut the facility’s grass.
• Amend the 2016 budget & adopt the 2017 budget
• Audit engagement letter for FY 2016
