Being without a win in the last 27 games dating back to the 2014 season, the Mamou Demons have had a rough go of it to say the least. In fact, Mamou has not won multiple games in a season since 2012, when the Demons collected two wins.
However, Mamou has one last chance this year to collect a win and avoid back-to- back winless seasons when they travel to Vinton this Friday night to take on the 3-6 Lions. Game time is set for 7 p.m,
“It would be nice if we could finally break through into the win column,” stated Mamou head coach Brian Brumfield. “Our guys have played hard all season long and have never give up. This group of players have really shown good character and fight every time we take the field. It would be great to have the seniors, especially, go out on a winning note.”
Despite their record, the Lions can put up a bundle of points, averaging 27.2 points per game. Still, Vinton can surrender a ton of points also, giving up 36.9 points per game. But, Brumfield knows that his team has their work cut out for them.
“Vinton is very athletic,” commented Brumfield. “They run a two-tight double wing offense and want to eat the clock up by running the ball. If their running backs find a seam, they can take it to the house. Their defense is very aggressive and they fly to the ball. We will need to play the best we have played all year.”
